Pleading: A Poem

Pleading

Where are you?
As I lay here, my insides pouring out
My heart aching with regret
My mind, suffocated with doubt

Where are you?
As I cry out, “I’m lost and alone!”
I don’t feel your presence
as I lay here and moan

Where are you?
As I worry, for those I hold dear
where is the comfort
that replaces the fear

Where are you?
As I listen for your still quiet voice
Why are you silent?
Is it yours, or my choice?

Where are you?
As I plead, and beg for you to come
Why don’t you answer?
I’m slowly going numb.
